A case study of integrated research: The project poliTE – Social appropriateness for artificial assistants
As part of the current anthology “Das geteilte Ganze. Horizonte Integrierter Forschung für künftige Mensch-Technik-Verhältnisse” (Unofficial translation: “The shared whole. Horizons of Integrated Research for Future Human-Technology relations”), edited by Prof. Arne Manzeschke (Evangelische Hochschule Nürnberg) and Dr. Bruno Gransche (University of Siegen), our project “poliTE – social appropriateness for artificial assistants” served as a case study. The essay was written in collaboration by Jacqueline Bellon, Bruno Gransche and Sebastian Nähr-Wagener. In addition to a general description of the project, which primarily describes the aims and procedures of “poliTE”, the contribution focuses in particular on the interdisciplinary research approach to the adequacy of social behavior, the cultural techniques of behavior and the integration of the technological perspective, as well as on the Courtesy research.
